What action should you take when you see a red light?

Go

Stop

Red means stop. A red signal tells you to halt and wait for the light to change to green. You should brake smoothly and stop before the stop line, or before entering the junction if there’s no line, keeping a safe distance from the vehicle in front. Do not creep forward or go through the junction while it’s red, and don’t turn around instead of stopping. Only proceed when the light is green (or if a police officer directs otherwise).

Creep forward

Turn around
